Area

Boreland village is about 7 miles north Lockerbie where there are
good local amenities and a golf course. Lochmaben, about another 5
miles away also has a golf course and some lochs, one of which offers
sailing. If you head north from the village towards Eskdalemuir you can
lose yourself in the wilds of the Borders, one of the emptiest landscapes in the
UK.

The nearest town is Dumfries, an excellent shopping centre and full of
history. The birthplace of Robert Burns, Scotland's national bard, who
lived in the area for most of his short life. For a unique view of the
city visit the Camera Obscura!

Both Glasgow and Edinburgh are less than 2 hours drive away. The cross
country route to Edinburgh takes in the source of the river Tweed and meanders
all the way down the river's valley towards Peebles.

The village of Moffat is a great place to take in, an attractive 19th
century spa town, it is full of wee shops and cafes. The Station
Park in the summer is a riot of planting and regularly wins prizes for the
floral displays.
